A broken piece of a Willow Pattern plate has been lovingly shaped by hand into a heart. A sterling silver closed ring holds it in place on a sterling silver chain.
The charm with two silver birds are optional and can be purchased separately.

The Willow Pattern Story
The story behind the famous Willow Pattern is set in ancient China and revolves around the forbidden love between two young people, Koong-se and Chang.
The Lovers
Koong-se was the beautiful daughter of a wealthy and powerful Mandarin. She lived in a grand house by a river, surrounded by willow trees and gardens. Her father had promised her hand in marriage to a wealthy, older man she did not love. However, Koong-se had fallen in love with Chang, a lowly clerk who worked for her father.
The Escape
When her father discovered the romance, he forbade the relationship and confined Koong-se to the house. Determined to be together, the lovers made plans to escape. On the night before Koong-se's arranged marriage, they fled across the bridge in her father's garden, taking refuge on a nearby island.
The Chase and Tragic End
The Mandarin was furious and sent soldiers after them. The soldiers found the lovers, and in the ensuing confrontation, both Koong-se and Chang were tragically killed. Their love was doomed, but their spirits transformed into two doves, which ascended to the heavens, symbolising eternal love.
